Every
Wednesday morning during the school terms these lovely
ladies meet for fellowship and ministry.
The programme is pretty varied – ranging from
bible Study series and talks by various teachers, through
projects to raise funds for God’s work, outings
to places of special interest, and – would you
believe it – parties!
The Bible Studies are sometime expositions of portions
of Scripture, or doctrinal studies, Bible character
studies, and so on. The talks have included autobiographies
of those who are, or have been, involved in mission.
Fund-raising projects are ongoing via the Talent Table,
and the money raised goes towards such things as Christmas
gifts and biscuits for residents of Umgeni Hospital,
and for oncology outpatients at Grey’s Hospital.
Money has also been donated to missions and the family
Centre at Mphophomeni. In addition, saleable goods are
collected from time to time and given to “Hidden
Treasures”, the Baptist second-hand shop in Pietermaritzburg.
Underwear is collected for the CINDI ministry, which
provides clothing for children in distress.
On occasion, small groups meet for “Tea in the
Homes” for the ladies to get to know one-another
on a more intimate basis. Outings include visits to
church members’ farms and other places of interest.
And the parties? As a rule there are three each year.
One is at Sunfield Home, a Home for the mentally and
physically challenged residents, who always enjoy the
eats the ladies provide, as well as the talk by a visiting
speaker. The second is a similar one at Umgeni Hospital;
and the third is an end-of-year bash, together with
the Silver Threads, with plenty of eats, entertainment,
singing and much laughter.
The group has shown an increase in numbers during
the past year – and Cameos would love to have
more ladies join.
Cameos gives God all the glory and thanks for spiritual
enrichment and all the learning, growing, fellowship
and giving.
