Murray hails from Howick, having attended both the Howick Primary and Howick High School, where he matriculated in 1992. During these formative years, Murray attended Howick Community Church. It was during these early years that he gave his life to Jesus Christ.
Following his schooling and a year of ministry in music and drama with the Baptist ‘WOW’ teams, Murray studied Agriculture through Cedara Agricultural College and Technikon Pretoria. On completion of his studies Murray worked in agricultural research and training with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture.
In 2004, Murray left agriculture to begin studies in theology at the Baptist Theological College in Johannesburg. During this time, he met Brenda, who was working in the College’s administrative department, and in 2006 they where married. Murray graduated that same year and took up the position of pastor of the Ladysmith Baptist Church. He served in Ladysmith until 2010. Murray moved to Howick in April 2010 to serve as an Associate Pastor of the Howick Community Church.
